Barbaree Duke spent 15 years as a public school teacher. She has taught kindergarten students to adult enrichment classes in four states. She strove to find new ways to make learning meaningful and interesting to her students.
She learned to should never underestimate the power of student-directed, creative approaches to traditional curriculum to produce results. She also learned the real need for integrating technology into the classroom curriculum opposed to teaching computer skills as a separate entity.
With that in mind, Barbaree wrote a book that was a new approach to incorporating the science and technology of geography into core curriculums like English, social studies and math. Full of realistic ideas for implementing 21st Century tools into the classroom, this book harnesses the power of online mapping, virtual globes and online content! Ready-to-use lessons, practical ideas, suggestions on collaboration and research make this book a must-have for many classrooms.
Barbaree asked me to design a logo to brand her website and marketing materials and a cover for her first solo textbook: Reading, Writing and Thinking Around the Globe.
