I was asked to create a retro Christmas card for Midway Hills Christian Church‘s Alternative Christmas Program. This church, which was founded in 1955, had a progressive artistic aesthetic through the 1960’s into the 1970’s. Evidence of this psychedelic art influence is still evidenced in their awe inspiring banner art, stained glass and wooden carvings. It is truly a mod sanctuary. I wanted to channel that groovy vibe to make them a card that was as groovy as they are.
